About Me

I am a 29 year old IT Analyst living in London but originally from Liverpool, UK.  I live with my wonderful partner, who I refer to as Bear in my blog to protect his privacy, who is kind, generous, loving, clever and an all round good egg.  He has been my strength over the last few months.

I have a great job, fantastic groups of friends all over the UK, and I live in a lovely little two bed apartment in London.  In all honesty life could not be better, apart from one thing, I may possibly have Multiple Sclerosis.

Within the last three years I have been very physically active and raised money for charity by completing the BUPA Birmingham Half Marathon, Lichfield 10k, British Heart Foundation London to Brighton 60 Mile Night Ride and, most recently in July 2013, the Virgin Active London Triathlon.  I was at my peak fitness when in August I almost overnight went from swimming 1km every week day to not being able to move my whole body due to extreme fatigue and paralysis of my left leg.

I'm writing this blog because I want to keep a diary of every test I have, every appointment with the Neurologist that I experience, to discuss the never ending list of symptoms and to give a personal story of someone going through the beginnings of an investigation in to this disease, with the hope that it may provide other sufferers some hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I also need to do this for my own personal benefit!  It's difficult to explain to loved ones and friends how frustrating and debilitating and SCARY this whole process of diagnosis can be.  Writing it down is cathartic and I suppose this is my 21st Century version of the diary that I used to keep tucked under my mattress when I was a teenager!

Thanks for reading, and I promise to be as honest and hopefully entertaining as possible!
